Commission Info =P

Sun Feb 15, 2009, 6:48 PM
  • Mood: Optimism
Whelp - here it is!
These are the details about me taking commissions and what not. I know I don't really have a lot up in my gallery for you to get an idea of my style, but while I'm working on that, you can go over to my fan-art gallery and see what I've got there ---> :iconalienbrainfood:
Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.
This is my first time doing this, so I'm still kind of testing the waters a little bit. =P

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Commission Inofo:
All commissions are hand drawn by me, Dayo-Dayo a.k.a. AlienBrainFood a.k.a. Joanna Z. The process of a full commission involves drawing out the commission in pencil, inking it in black micron pens, and coloring with Prismacolor markers and Sharpies. I am able to draw in various styles which include Japanese anime, American cartoon, and my own personal drawing style. Examples of these can be seen in my original art gallery (Dayo-Dayo) and my fan-art gallery (AlienBrainFood). Because I am currently a student and have other responsibilities demanding my attention and time, I feel it best to limit the amount of commission requests I receive per month. Each month, I will open three (3) slots for commissions. These can change. If I feel that the work load for the month is light and I am able to balance it out with my school work, I will open up more slots. When the commission is complete, the signed and dated original will be mailed to the customer or to an address of the customer’s choosing.
What I do for commissions and pricing (does not include shipping):

Pencil Sketch, Inked, Ink and Color

Bio shot or Chibi $2.00, $3.00, $5.00

Bio shot +
simplistic background
(non-defined scene) $4.00, $5.00, $7.00

Scene w/ 1-3 char $10.00, $11.00, $13.00

Scene w/ 4-6 char $12.00, $13.00, $15.00

Bio Shot: one character posed (in manner of customer’s choosing) in front of a white background

Chibi: same idea as bio shot, but in chibi style

Simplistic background: a background that does not consist of identifiable objects, examples of such would be a solid color background, background consisting of repeating shapes (ex. diamonds, lines, etc.), or a tie dye-esque background

Scene with 1 to 3 characters: a depiction of 1 to 3 characters (with posing and placement of customer’s choosing) in a specified setting, *** Note: I do not consider “extras”, or random people in the background, characters. So for example, if you ask for two people fighting multiple zombies, you will still only be charged the 1 to 3 character price. The “extras” can either be given very general description (zombies – decaying, greenish skin, blood, etc.) or left up to the artist’s imagination.

Scene with 4 to 6 characters: same idea as above, but with 4 to 6 characters, it is personal preference that I not be asked to do more that 6 unique characters in one depiction

What I will not do:

Hentai/Porn: I do not feel comfortable or well-practiced with depicting sex or other sexual acts

Anything that I personally find offensive or immoral.

I hold the right to decline a commission should it cause me discomfort (emotional, moral, physical, etc.) and/or jeopardize my integrity as an artist.

If you’re not sure about your request, please ask – I will not bite your head off.

Payment
I prefer to work through Paypal, but will also accept money orders and cash. But please note that I will not begin a piece until payment is received. If it takes a long time for your money to go through the mail, then your picture will take a long time getting to you. Also, please realize that sending money through the mail is risky – please use proper concealment. I cannot be held responsible if your money is not received.
Once details of the commission and a final price are settled, then, I will send a payment request through Paypal. If you are mailing your payment, I will wait for it.

What I need from you . . .
• A character reference picture or a VERY detailed description
• A detailed description of desired depiction (BE VERY SPECIFIC - or I will bombard you with notes asking for specific details throughout the process)
• Desired style
• Size (this detail can alter the prices set above)
• Character info that may be helpful (sometimes personality details can really effect the depiction)
• Your zip code and/or country to calculate shipping
• Your e-mail address
• How you intend to pay
• Any other special conditions or details you want me to keep in mind

Some extra things . . .

I have a tendency to sign and date my artwork. If you have some preference as to where I should sign and date (like if you’d prefer it on the back as opposed to somewhere in the actual picture) then please let me know in your request details.
Pencil sketches that are commissioned will be sprayed with a sealer so as to prevent smearing. If you would prefer to not have it sprayed for whatever reason, then please let me know.

Before it is mailed to you, I plan on either scanning or taking a picture of the finished piece and displaying it in my gallery under the account called Dayo-Dayo. This is so that people can get an idea of what I’ve done for people in my experience and so that they can get a sense of my style. When I do this, I will give a description of the process and my experience with the process. I will ALWAYS note who requested the piece and who the characters belong to respectively. If for some reason, this prospect makes you feel uncomfortable, please let me know and I will not post it to my gallery.

I will try to ‘check-in’ with a customer at three different points (for a sketch, ink, and color commission) throughout the process to make sure that things are going “according to plan”: after the sketch is finished, after the sketch is inked, and once the piece is finished. However, sometimes, I do all three of these steps in one sitting and don’t pause to check with requesters between each step. If you want me to check in with you after each step, please let me know.

It is my goal to have commissions finished within the month that they are requested. However, I can not promise that time will always be available for me and it may take longer. The longest I will ever take on a commission is one full month (ex. Jan. 5 – Feb. 5). Please keep this in mind when commissioning and please be patient.

Thank you – if you have any questions that were not addressed here, don’t hesitate to ask through a comment or a note.
Looking forward to doing business with you and to hearing all of your interesting ideas!

~ Ciao

=D Hey! Thanks so much for the greeting!
Technically, I'm not entirely new. I decided to set up a second account for original work while keeping my old account for fan-art ( :iconalienbrainfood: - sorry for shameless self-advertisement)
Anyway, thanks though so much for the kind and warm welcome!
